About

Ainis (b.1995) is a Finnish fine artist and social scientist living in London, UK. Their specialities lie within analogue photography and videography - aspiring to bring beauty to the mundane and to create a strong emotional impact on the audience and its environment.

They are currently studying fine arts at the University of Arts of London. Their past study in social sciences at the University of Bath specialised in the ethics and social issues of artificial intelligence and technology. Most notably, researching arbitrary censorship of marginalised bodies, LGBTQIA+ users, on social media platforms. They merge their social research into their art practice, constantly expanding its mediums.

From their time at the Finnish Institute's art division, they have experience producing exhibitions and popups. The most noteworthy ones are the Skin-Deep exhibition and Pertti’s Choice popup. The themes within these projects dealt with disability, gender and sexuality.

In the future, they aspire to produce constructive change by collaborating with other artists, researchers, and organisations. Their work and research address themes within identity and social issues, such as intersectional equality, trauma, childhood sexual violence and mental health. Currently, their work explores the themes around the creation of the myth of a homogenous Finnish identity from a queer perspective. ‍
